Set the thermostat to the needed mode, replace the filter only if it is visibly clogged, and note any error code, water, ice, or unusual sound. Do not repeatedly reset breakers or bypass safety controls.

Shut the system off only if you can do so safely, move valuables clear, and photograph the water, model plate, and damage before cleanup. Note when it started and whether the system was running.
